Funding & Applications
Since 1973 the Norwich Historic Churches Trust has safeguarded 18 of Norwich's medieval churches, combining long-term conservation with creative re-use of the buildings for community and cultural purposes.
St Gregory's, Pottergate is a Grade I listed 14th-century church in the centre of Norwich. Following an inspection that found cracking, damp and masonry damage, the church was added to the city's Heritage at Risk register and the Trust is seeking grant funding for a major programme of conservation.
Alix Slater Consultancy & Training developed a Project Enquiry to The National Lottery Heritage Fund on behalf of the Trust, the first step towards a funding application for the conservation of St Gregory's. The Project Enquiry was accepted, and the consultancy went on to prepare the under £250,000 funding application.
The consultancy also supported the Trust with project development, advised on community engagement and brokered a link with Norwich City College, giving students the opportunity to learn more about heritage skills.
