Who we are
We help heritage sites, museums and cultural organisations, shape, fund and secure a lasting future
We combine creativity with evidence - developing ideas, visions, business plans, funding applications and exhibitions, all grounded in rigorous research, clear analysis and insight that leads to better decisions.
Our Mission
Founded by Dr Alix Slater, the practice brings together more than 25 years of consultancy and academic research in heritage, museums and the cultural sector. That dual perspective shapes everything we do - our advice is grounded in data, tested methods and a deep understanding of how organisations actually work.
We work across the full spectrum - from feasibility studies, funding applications to The National Lottery Heritage Fund, business plans and Activity Plans, to audience research, evaluation and interpretation - always with the same precision and care.
Our Partnerships
We have worked with more than a hundred organisations across the sector - national institutions, local authorities, building preservation trusts, universities, historic churches and cathedrals, castles, gardens and independent museums - many at pivotal moments in their development.
We believe in partnerships. That means staying involved, staying honest, and delivering work that holds up long after we leave the room.
Research & Training
The 'Training' in our name is no afterthought. We run bespoke workshops and capacity-building programmes for boards, staff and volunteers who want to build their own research, planning and fundraising capabilities.
Our training draws on the same rigorous methodologies we use in client projects - adapted for teams who want to do more for themselves.
What we do
We have more specific expertise in data and evidence for heritage, museums and cultural organisations, and this underpins all our work.
The Team
Founded by Dr. Alix Slater 16 years ago and recently joined by Benjamin Kandler, we work with a team of experts across the heritage, museums, fundraising, architecture and engineering sectors.
