About the project

Fulham Palace has over 1,300 years of history and is gradually being restored. Discovering the Bishop of London's Palace was a new phase in Fulham Palace Trust's vision to restore a further 40% of the building and 50% of the gardens, including restoration of the quadrangle, installation of site-wide interpretation, new exhibitions, woodland management, a community archaeology project and other community learning activities, together with a greater range of volunteering and heritage training opportunities.

The consultancy's role

Alix Slater Consultancy & Training worked as an Associate of Cultural Consulting Network (CCN), acting as lead consultant on a Marketing Audit, Marketing Plan and Business Plan for the Trust, which supported the HLF Round 2 application for £1.9 million. The Business Plan was also used as the Trust's Business Plan from 2017 to 2022 and included a wider review of the operations of the site, including the on-site café, functions' business and retail, to ensure the long-term sustainability of the historic buildings and gardens.
