Activity Planning
The Council had been working with Kent County Council to agree a number of long-term loans which bring together Folkestone's cultural and historic assets in a new museum in the Old Town Hall, supporting the regeneration of the town and boosting tourism.
Alix Slater Consultancy & Training was originally appointed to mentor the internal team in the preparation of the Activity Plan and to take the lead when a member of staff went on maternity leave. The Council then asked the consultancy to run a series of focus groups to consult with the community to test their plans for the proposed interpretation and activities during summer 2015. The project also developed a learning room. The Council secured a Round 2 HLF grant of £1.95m towards HEART and Folkestone Museum opened in May 2017.
More recently, the consultancy has collaborated with Folkestone Town Council as part of the Leas Lift project, working with local teachers to explore a joint learning offer.
