About the project

The University of Surrey ran a HEFCE/ICURe-funded project, from 2013 to 2018, exploring the feasibility of an augmented-reality app for museums and heritage sites.

The consultancy's role

Alix Slater Consultancy & Training was appointed for a limited period within that wider programme, providing the museum and interpretation context and an understanding of how visitors use information, drawing on visitor research and on training at the Royal Ontario Museum by its team of Interpretation Planners, the subject of a Post-Graduate Diploma dissertation.

The consultancy also helped pitch the project to investors, as part of an initiative to bring academic research to market.
