About the project

Alix Slater Consultancy & Training worked with the Head of Education at the National Gallery on a number of projects over 3 years including:

• Evaluations of the nationally acclaimed 'Take One Picture' initiative
• Family workshops
• A pilot project to enable trainee teachers to spend placements in the Gallery
• An outreach project with young mothers as part of the Gallery's HLF application to save the picture, Madonna of the Pinks
• Artist in residence projects with partners including the Laing Art Gallery, Tyne & Wear Museums and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery.

The consultancy's role

The consultancy worked closely with the Department to agree the most appropriate methodologies including interviews, face-to-face and postal surveys and wrote reports which were shared internally and with funders and used to inform future practice.
