About the project

Strawberry Hill House & Garden in Twickenham is Horace Walpole's celebrated Gothic Revival villa, built in the 18th century and now cared for by the Strawberry Hill Trust.

The consultancy's role

In 2025 Alix Slater Consultancy & Training worked closely with the Trust to deep dive into their booking data and visitor research to understand more about who was visiting, their motivations and visitor experience. The Trust has used these findings to obtain a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to develop their interpretation and pilot an enhanced public programme. The consultancy was reappointed in 2026 as Audience Development Consultants to support a programme of visitor research that will become a baseline for future data collection. This includes training 20 interns from St Mary's University who will support data collection.
