Associate Specialist, Retail
Alison is a specialist retail consultant for the arts, heritage and tourism sectors. She helps museums, galleries and visitor attractions turn their collections, stories and sense of place into engaging retail experiences that delight visitors and generate sustainable income.
With experience in retail management, merchandising and franchising, Alison managed a gallery and museum shop before launching her freelance consultancy. She combines commercial expertise with strong heritage-sector insight, offering tailored support in retail strategy, product development, visual merchandising, shop installations and operational reviews.
Her work spans small volunteer-run museums and high-footfall heritage attractions. Alongside consultancy, Alison manages museum and heritage shops on a part-time freelance basis and has extensive experience creating and running temporary and exhibition pop-up shops.
As an experienced trainer and mentor, Alison delivers practical retail training for museums and galleries, in person and online, helping staff and volunteers build the skills and confidence to run successful retail operations.
Passionate about art, design and responsible retailing, Alison has completed accredited Carbon Literacy training and is committed to embedding sustainable and ethical practices in her work
