About the project

The Cowper & Newton Museum in Olney holds a story linked to the transatlantic slave trade and to John Newton's hymn Amazing Grace.

The consultancy's role

Alix Slater Consultancy & Training was commissioned to deliver the CAN-DO project as an Associate of Cultural Consulting Network (CCN), with Alison Guilfoyle supporting on retail. The work looked at how the museum could reposition itself, increase footfall and generate income, and at the opportunities of the site.

The work also examined whether the museum could develop group packages, such as a combined trip and tea offer, building on the group visits it had previously received.
